ATTUKAL PONGALA RELEASE: MODULAR ETHEREAL
... where the modular synthesizer of Modular Monkey meets the organic sounds of multi-instrumentalist Kapil Bambardekar.
~
ATTUKAL PONGALA is the showstopper of a 10-day festival where women literally take over the streets of Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of the state of Kerala in South India. Women descend on Thriruvanthapuram, at times a couple of days ahead, to book their places to offer Pongala (a ritualistic pudding made from rice, jaggery, coconut, and plantains cooked together) to Goddess Bhagavathy, one of the many manifestations of the sacred feminine. Thousands and thousands of pots atop makeshift red-brick hearths where the Pongala is cooked dot the temple, its surroundings, and many thoroughfares in the city. Attukal Pongala holds the world record for the largest gathering of women in an event on a single day, 2.5 million for the year 2009 - that would be three and a half times more than the population of India's neighbouring country Bhutan.

MODULAR ETHEREAL is our offering of Pongala to the sacred feminine. May the full moon of Magh Purnima light up your sky and your life 🙏❤ Jai Ma 🙏❤ Jai Guru 🙏❤

All proceeds from sales will go to the Lynti Khasi School of Umsawwar – a small remote village of farmers & shepherds located in Meghalaya, Northeast India- to help better its infrastructure and much more including funding the higher studies of the pass-outs of Lynti Khasi School. The Lynti Khasi School, with its bare basic facilities, is trying really hard not only to educate the children of Umsawwar but to also strike a balance between education & the centuries-old traditional livelihood of the community where the children help their parents in the daily chores of rearing and farming.
