...The first edition of THE GIG SESSIONS 1.0 was a joint effort of Kamakhya Records, Paat Halodhiya, Spot-Les, and many more who came to share their love, energy, and expertise to create a space where the following artists collaborated:-
1. Fat Freddy (Bangalore)
2. DemonkoЯe (Kozhikode)
3. H A R ! (Bangalore)

SAMPLES RECORDED/ USED:
The collaborators recorded several audio samples during the Gig sessions - recitation of Hiren Bhattacharya's (the G.O.A.T of Assamese poetry) poem মোৰ দেশ (My Country) by Satabdi Saikia, early morning & early evening bird songs and people at work @ Paat Halodhiya Farm, sounds of the villagers nearby Paat Halodhiya Farm creating a ruckus to keep the wild elephants away from their crop ready to be harvested (Psy Didge, one of the collaborators, saw wild elephants while recording sounds 😄😄), the meditative sounds of the Rav Vast played by Rishi Bora and Bishnu Saikia shared audio samples from his research work - "Goa Trance - a convergence" - which was his doctorate thesis from Guwahati University. His research work touches upon the history and evolution of Goa Trance and its connection with shamanistic traditions with a special focus on the shamanistic traditions of Assam and Northeast India.
The samples shared by Bishnu were :
1. Ojapali - a shamanistic folk dance and storytelling tradition of Assam - an ode to the feminine entity Manasa worshipped in Assam and Bengal.
2. Urs songs sung in Assam to commemorate the death anniversary of Sufi saint Moinuddin Chishti in a dialect spoken only in Assam and Bangladesh.
3. A Nepali street song from Gangtok, Sikkim recorded during a field trip.
